A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Wayne County regarding vendor payments on September 26, 2024.
As part of our commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Wayne County Today requested records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq. Specifically, we asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024.
The information requested includes the following fields: Vendor Name, Transaction Date, Transaction Description, and Amount. We believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also expressed our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
