Wayne Local School District issued the following announcement on March 10.
On March 4th, 6 student athletes from Waynesville High School along with Interim Athletic Director, Jamie Manley attended an SWBL Leadership Conference at Wright State University. Each school within the SWBL brought 2 student representatives from 9th-11th grade to attend the conference. Waynesville’s representatives were: Freshman-Garrett Lundy and Avery Whitaker, Sophomores- Connor Huffman and Abby Butterbaugh, Juniors- Tanner Hatmaker and Maddie Almeter. The keynote speaker for the event was Coach Jim Place. These students also participated in activities and break out sessions with other students in the league regarding topics like sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, positive values, and perspective.
