Graduates earn 94 degrees, certificates from the University of Akron Wayne College

About 33 percent of the 94 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Akron Wayne College in 2017-18 were to students in communication, journalism, and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Orrville conferred 31 certificates in communication, journalism, and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in general organizational communication. Data shows the school gave out 31 certificates in general organizational communication, followed by 19 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies and 18 associate's degrees in "other" education.

The university enrolled 1,683 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
